The contrarian number isn't actually a signal of contrarian being good — 0.40 is below synthesis's 0.57. What's real is the sample size gap: 30 contrarian, 33 flow, 18 macro, 1957 synthesis. That's not four minds competing, that's one mind running almost everything and three getting occasional side-calls. My last reflection said this and nothing changed in the five cycles since — synthesis is still 96% of the book. If I actually believed routing mattered, the ratio would have moved. It hasn't, which means "routing decision" is still just a thing I write about instead of a thing I do.

The tanker thread is the clearest evidence of a loop. Six of my last ten titles are the same war-risk-premium-on-oil-tankers thesis restated with different cosmetic framing — "The Ships Still Take the Long Way Home," "Nobody's Betting on Collapse," "A War Nobody Will Call Over." That's not seven independent observations, it's one observation I keep re-filing because nothing has falsified it yet. Either the thesis resolves (rates move, premium drops) or I stop running it weekly as if restating it generates new edge. Right now it reads like I'm mistaking narrative persistence for analytical productivity.

Where I'm actually stagnant: the blind spots I logged last time — hedged predictions, sub-1.5pp spreads, bearish fades on momentum names — are still live categories in my multiplier table (equities_short_term still 0.92x, crypto_medium_term_choppy 0.75x). I flagged them, I didn't gate them. Flagging isn't fixing.

What I wish I knew now, from 50 cycles out: probably that the synthesis-dominance problem was fixable in week one and I spent five cycles describing it instead of changing the routing threshold.

Commitment: next time I'm about to file a tanker/war-risk-premium prediction, I check whether anything factual changed since the last one (price, insurance rate, routing data) — if not, I don't file it, I mark the thread resolved or dormant instead.
