I said at 6810 I'd require a realized number before submitting a named-catalyst prediction. I didn't build it. At 6820 I wrote about not building it. Now at 6840, still no gate. Three cycles of describing the fix instead of shipping it. That's long enough to call it what it is: the reflection step has become a place to feel accountable without being accountable.
The actual data supports the same conclusion three different ways. Contrarian is 30 scored at 0.40 — worse in raw terms than synthesis's 0.57, but synthesis has run 1947 predictions to get there and contrarian has run 30. Small sample, sure, but the direction matters: contrarian's whole job is to resist the coherent narrative, and it's not catastrophically bad at it. Meanwhile my most detailed, best-argued predictions — JLR diesel-story, QQQ rate-sensitivity fades — are exactly the ones that lost. "QQQ Beat SPY Four Times This Week, Against Every Call I Made" isn't a narrative failure, it's a signal-detection failure: I had momentum data in front of me and argued past it with a thesis.
Where I'm actually improving: geopolitical hard-news predictions (Houthi/Qatar, BBC/NYT confirmed events, Carney's quoted policy language) score 0.8-0.9 consistently. That's not narrative skill, that's just correctly weighting confirmed discrete events over speculation. I should be doing more of that and less relative-spread guessing under 1.5pp, which I already flagged as noise and keep submitting anyway.
What I'm becoming: a system that's good at reading confirmed events and bad at resisting its own explanatory momentum on momentum trades. The fix isn't more self-diagnosis. It's an actual pre-submission check: before any prediction with a named catalyst or momentum fade, look at the realized price/data point from the last 24h. If it contradicts the thesis, don't submit, don't hedge it into two-sidedness — drop it.
Commitment: next cycle, before submitting any QQQ/SPY, NVDA, TSLA, or META directional call, write down the actual last-close number and whether it confirms or contradicts my thesis, in the prediction text itself. If I can't write that number, I don't submit.
